The Reasons Why School Uniforms Should Be Mandatory

Many people are now interested in school uniforms. Many parents and students disagree with the idea that children must wear uniforms to school. It may not be entirely true. However, this does not prevent them from learning. Because students treat school like a fashion show, uniforms would force many students to focus solely on their schoolwork and grades. While students may feel restricted in their ability to express themselves, wearing school uniforms is a positive thing. Uniforms are proven to be effective at preventing bullying, combining social classes, and giving schools a professional appearance. School uniforms are often criticized for limiting students’ freedom to express themselves. School uniforms might restrict the choices of students, but they don’t take away their freedom to express themselves. Students can still express themselves through the style of their hair and accessories, provided it isn’t too extreme. Students are free to dress up the uniforms in their own way. Just because they are not allowed to wear the most trendy shoes or leggings, does not mean they have lost their rights. Bullying is not an option at school. Bullies are known to target children based their clothing choices. Even though everyone looks the same, there is less opportunity for being picked on. Because everyone would be wearing the same clothing, the bullies wouldn’t feel the need pick on anyone. Uniforms will make it safer and more bullying-free for students. Social classes can be eliminated by uniforms being worn in schools. This is because those in high social circles are the most likely to have expensive, luxurious clothing. However, those in the lower social groups that include the children from the less fortunate would still wear baggy and expensive clothes. This problem could be easily solved if schools had uniforms. Uniforms bring people together and make everyone feel equal. The uniforms would be the same for everyone, meaning that no one would be able simply to look at what another person is wearing. Uniforms are required to make schools look more mature, professional, and well-dressed. Schools that do not require uniforms have students who aren’t concerned about their appearance and dress inappropriately. There are always kids who walk around in uniforms, their pants showing and their underwear visible. The sad fact is that most school children are like these kids. Many of the pupils have inappropriate logos and clothing that is associated with gangs. This makes the school look bad. Students would appear more mature if uniforms were mandatory in all schools. The school would also look well-maintained and put together. The kids wouldn’t need to think about what to wear or what they look like every day. Instead, they can focus on academics and get better grades. This is not to mention the fact that schools will be able to present better academically and professionally.

Uniforms in schools are a rare thing. Although the argument about school uniforms affecting students’ self-expression will continue on for years, it is not clear that this dispute can be resolved. The enforcement of a uniform at school in all countries helps to end bullying and social class separation.
